With the 2015 Tour de France coming off stage nine on Sunday the 12th of July 2015 it was Britain’s famous Chris Froome who came up the overall leader in this stage and got the yellow jersey after a very difficult and close time trial for the teams in Brittany today.
The team Sky which id Froome’s team were the last to get on the 28 Km route and his team finished in second place just a few seconds behind the Racing team BMC. Their leading rider is the 2013 champion and American rider in T. van Garderen now is the overall leader in the stages, leading by some 12 seconds.
In this stage 9 Froome was able to make more time on the 2 time winner A. Contador, N. Quintana and defending champ V. Nibali. The Italian Nibali was the big loser for the day in the race between what they call the ‘top four’ as his team Astana ended some 35 seconds back of the winners. Now Nibali is trailing Froome by some 2 minutes and twenty two seconds. Froome said he was surprised Nibali and lost so much time this soon, and did not expect that as he expected him to be one of the main contenders who could make up time in these early stages of the Tour de France. Quintana and Nibali having lost a lot of time to date will have the pressure to make up time as the attack the climbing routes.
One analysis from an online sportsbook Sports said that in the contenders there may be up to 30 second gaps, and said Nibali’s struggling makes it time for him to start looking at Garderen as a real challenger for this 2015 Tour de France. Plus the team sky had some riders that did well on the course of the time trial. Yes their right again, but better is the fact the Garderen goes into the mountainous routes with a good lead over the most treacherous rivals, while his team show great unity and team strength, and their enjoying same. That’s why many have said he appears as the next champion in the Tour de France.
The Movistar team and was just some 4 seconds behind the leader as Quintana gained precious time on Nibali and Contador as he now trails the leader Froome by just 1 minute and some 57 seconds.
The Tinkoff-Saxo team of Contador was 29 seconds behind the BMC team and that put him some 62 seconds back of Froome as the Spanish rider is seeking to win the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in the same season.
The American Van Garderen who finished 5th in 2013 his trying to get himself in the position to beat Froome this 2015, as he said he will start to click as the mountain races begin on Tuesday, as Monday is a day to rest.
