In this Stage 15 the majority of the climbs were located in the 1st part of the route, and as most expected, many of the cyclers had difficulties in keeping with the pace. One of the 1st victims was M. Cavendish who struggled with the steady climb and fast pace as he lost a lot of ground in the field. A. Kristoff a 3 time Green Jersey winner jumped into an early lead from the 27 riders as he took all 20 points at the inner sprint.

The break was exceptional as the field did not seem interested in chasing. However, once they caught up with the leaders, the pace was increased. Then having 10 kilometers left the train sprints took the lead as the BMC team had a great shift.

In this Stage 15 there one was not able to escape the fast sprinters, but Greipel managed to stay ahead of J. Degenkolb and Kristoff as Sagan ended up 4th. The exhausted Greipel praised his teammates as done through this tour, as his team kept him wind free and out in front and worked out just great for him.
